The
Importance of Detecting the Early Signs of
Termites
Termites are never welcomed visitors in
anybody’s house. Their presence is most of the time
concealed. These termites can be aptly referred to as a nuisance in
one’s home. Termites may play some valuable role in nature’s
ecosystem, but in the context of your own habitat, these termites
have nothing valuable to offer. Termites are indeed
ungrateful house visitors, fittingly called pests at that.
In most cases, a homeowner only finds out that
are termites inside his house when a good amount of damage has
already been done. Usually at this stage, the structure of
your house may already be weak, as termites have been feeding from
it for some time already. Not only will you have to spend
money on termite treatment, you also have to contend with the cost
of repair of your house.
And yes, what a waste of money. If only
you knew of such infestation at a much earlier time – you could
have spent a lesser amount of money.
So one begins to ask, “What are the
early signs of termites in one’s house?”
One should know that early signs of
termites in your homes could be detected effectively – and
a trained eye is more efficient in doing so. Termites may
work behind your walls and under your floors, and may have been
there for many years – yet you and those living with you are
unaware of any infestation.
Checking for early signs of termites may be done
just so you would know whether there are termites feeding on it. If
you should try to do your own checking, you should put on priority
the specific areas of the house that are prone to termite
attack.
One such place is in the garden where soil,
mulches, and trees may be found. The exteriors should be checked
for the presence of mud tubes. The sidings are to be inspected for
cracks. Blistered portions of the siding are prone to termite
attack and should be looked at closely. Moldings inside the house,
window & door frames, and basement walls should be checked.
There are many more critical areas that can be subjected to the
same scrutiny, to detect early signs of termites.
Noticing these early signs of
termites will allow you to get professional help right
away. Treatment for termites will be necessary. Being
an expert in this field, the pest control company you hired, will
then be able to give you recommendations on your termite problems –
after which, implementation of the agreed upon solution will have
to take effect the soonest time possible.
