Signs of Termites

Termites in the United States are said to have originated from China and Japan way back during the last few months after the World War II.  They were believed to travel through the crates used by militaries to transport their equipments back and forth the country. Since then termites have become a bane in the existence of most Americans, particularly in most termite-infested states such as Texas, Mexico, Florida and New Orleans. It is still and ongoing battle against the tiny but highly destructive insects that have caused billions of dollars in damages every single year. The main advantage of termites over people is their ability to survive and thrive undetected for several years. This is the most exasperating power of termites over human beings – their capability to wage an attack right under our own noses! So what are the signs of termites that you should be aware of? The most obvious signs of termites in a particular building structure would include the swarming of many winged adult insects. These are actually fully developed termites that would leave their nest in order to form a new colony. Another noticeable signs of termites are the pencil size mud tubes that are usually constructed along the foundations and walls of the building. It is also advisable to pay particular attention to mud that is protruding from cracks and crevices and the hollow sound of wood when tapped is certainly sure signs of termites inside.

Early detection and prevention is still the key factor needed when dealing with the pesky termites.
