Treating Termites: Leave It To The Experts
Termites if left to their own devices, will not
stop until they bring your house down. Their intention may
not necessarily be to take you out of your house, or leave you
without a home – but these are what results because of their very
nature to feed on wood and dwell on it, or perhaps live near
it.
Treating termites can be done
by one. There are many ways to do this. One can make
use of the fumigation method or by applying pesticides.
Treating the soil around your house with chemicals is a practice
done for years now – but such method should be done with care as
chemicals not only kill termites, it can pose danger to your health
as well.
Such was the case with the use of Chlordane
before – health issues arose, like liver damage and problems in the
nervous system. These chemicals can seep into the ground
water and absorbed consequently by plants and animals in their
system. Leaks in water lines may cause it to contaminate drinking
water. Other chemicals though are now in place for Chlordane
as this is already banned since 1988. Substitute chemicals as
Termidor and Premise are being used.
Another method of treating
termites is by the use of baiting systems. Plastic
bait stations are used that will be placed in the ground.
Regular check ups for these are necessary to reposition and
replenish the bait as necessary.
As you can see, there are known methods in
treating termites – but applying these and effectively implementing
such in actual scenarios may the difficult part. In treating
termites, one may not be experienced enough to uncover their tracks
and identify the areas they are in – and you may not be that
skilled to carry out termite treatment methods. The risk is
that it becomes a haphazard treatment, with the net effect of the
possibility – and most likely at that – for a follow-up treatment
to be necessary.
This is the reason why in treating termites,
this would be better left for the experts. Pest control
companies, not only have the experience, but also the background
knowledge about your home termites. They are able to
effectively find out the presence of termites, identify their types
and come up with a treatment method applicable for your
case.
What’s even more nice is that they are skilled
enough to do this whole process efficiently – some well-known pest
control companies may have higher fees, but you are assured of a
job well done. You will then be able to sleep tight, take
comfort in the thought, that you are no longer sharing your house
with anybody – and with termites for that matter.
One can never take for granted the possibility
of termite infestation in their homes. There are just too many
factors at play that will present an opportunity for termites to
come into your homes. Detecting and treating
termites the soonest possible time will lessen the damage
these pests can cause, and would mean lesser costs for your
repairs.
